- Step 1: Prepare the MushroomsChop or grind the dried mushrooms into small pieces. There is no need to turn them into a fine powder, but the smaller the pieces, the easier it will be for the water to extract the active compounds.
- Step 2: Heat the WaterBring the water to a boil and, once it reaches boiling point, let it sit for 1 to 3 minutes before pouring it over the mushrooms. This allows the temperature to drop slightly to approximately 70–80°C (158–176°F).This step is not mandatory, but many people prefer it as a precaution. During short infusions, heat does not typically degrade the active compounds significantly, but allowing the water to cool slightly is a common practice.
- Step 3: Steep the MushroomsPlace the chopped mushrooms in a teapot or mug and pour the hot water over them. Let the mixture steep for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring gently halfway through. If desired, add a tea bag or herbal infusion to improve the flavor.
- Step 4: Strain and ServeOnce the steeping time is complete, strain the liquid to remove the solid mushroom material. If you prefer a cleaner tea, strain it a second time using a fine filter.
- Step 5: Optional Additions for Flavor and EnjoymentYou can now add honey, ginger, or a few drops of lemon juice.Lemon is commonly used because it may cause the effects to be felt sooner, although it does not extract a greater amount of psilocybin. It is a popular addition, but it should be used in moderation.

Notes
The water should not be kept at a vigorous boil together with the mushrooms. The usual method is to heat the water, allow it to cool slightly, and then steep the mushrooms for several minutes.
Ginger may help make the drink gentler on the stomach.
Lemon is commonly used to alter the experience, but it should be added in moderation and is not a substitute for responsible preparation.
The nutritional values below assume the recipe is prepared with honey. If honey is omitted, the values will be lower.
